Feltman’s of Coney Island is a hot dog brand that traces its roots back to 1867, when German-American immigrant Charles Feltman is credited with inventing the hot dog on a bun in Coney Island, New York. The original Feltman’s restaurant was a sprawling seaside complex that served millions of customers annually until it closed in the mid-20th century. [1]

In 2015, the brand was revived by brothers Michael and Joe Quinn, who relaunched Feltman’s of Coney Island as a tribute to their late brother, Jimmy Quinn, a firefighter who died during the September 11 attacks. The Quinns sought to bring back the original taste of Feltman’s using natural, nitrate-free beef hot dogs with a signature blend of spices and a natural casing for a classic snap.

Feltman’s hot dogs gained a following for their old-world flavor, minimal processing, and commitment to quality ingredients. The brand expanded through online sales, grocery stores, and restaurant partnerships, promoting its historical legacy alongside its product. As of early 2023, Feltman’s changed ownership, but the hot dogs remain available in select markets.
